Protection against flooding is becoming increasingly important, while ecological aspects - especially with large construction projects - are getting more attention.
The Flood spillway Rees exemplifies the successful agreement of ecology, flood protection and improvement of the navigability of the Rhine.
The Waterways and Shipping Office (WSA) Duisburg-Rhein received for this building project the Working with Nature Award from the PIANC (World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure).
In our workshop we would like to present the innovative products and techniques used in the construction of the flood spillway.
Peter Kleine, construction manager of the WSA Duisburg-Rhein, and Gerd Niedzielski, responsible for the environmental monitoring of the construction will give you more information on the selection and use of materials during our ferry tour.
