The International Geotextile GmbH participated as exhibitor in the Deutschen Straßen- und Verkehrskongress (German road and traffic congress) for the first time this year. Innovative solutions for road construction, infrastructure and traffic planning were presented from the 28th until the 30th of September.

Not only the current severe weather conditions in Germany make clear that flood protection is a not insignificant task for the federal government, cities and towns.

In order to meet the threats of heavy rain events, innovative solutions are needed which combine new with proven technologies to create an effective and lasting protection against floods. In carrying out such a construction project ecological aspects have to be considered, without losing sight of the requirements of the shipping and tourism industries.

In August 2015, Rees in the Lower Rhine region in the district of Kleve completed the construction of the Rees flood channel. It took 15 years of planning and development, and approximately six years of construction. Honorable guests at the inauguration of this landmark construction project included, among other, the NRW Environment Minister, Johannes Remmel, and Enak Ferlemann, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
